Benedict Cumberbatch--gay or nay?

While Sherlock Holmes, as depicted by the new BBC miniseries 'Sherlock', is not homosexual.  A few people seem to be asking another question: is Benedict Cumberbatch gay? Jeremy Brett

Jeremy Brett (1933-1995) starred in what many consider the definitive Sherlock Holmes, produced by Granada between 1984 and 1994. Watson was portrayed first by David Burke and then by Edward Hardwicke. Jeremy Brett was intensely discreet about being bisexual.  He was married to Anna Massey from 1958 to 1962, and to Joan Wilson from 1976 until her death in 1985.  He was also linked romantically with men including the actor Gary Bond (1940-1995).
