Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking (2004) [IMDB]
Yes, I know, that's not slash! But it does star openly gay actor Rupert Everett (who came out in 1989). And a review in the Advocate called it "feet-up-on-the-couch good fun" (Oct 25, 2005, pg. 64).
Rupert Everett is known for advising actors not to come out as gay. He is quoted in the Daily Mail as saying: "It's not that advisable to be honest. It's not very easy. And, honestly, I would not advise any actor necessarily, if he was really thinking of his career, to come out ... It just doesn't work and you're going to hit a brick wall at some point."
Reviews:
- Meet the dark, unsavory new Sherlock Holmes: "In "The Case of the Silk Stocking," the degree of sexual ambiguity Everett brings to Sherlock actually seems quite right." (Ron Miller/The columinists)
- Playlist if the Month: "I love that Sherlock basically spends the first five minutes of this movie stoned out of his fucking mind in a seedy opium den."
